& they say that todays’ athletes can jump higher and run faster, well they better watch this one. I mean, wasn’t even a fan of either of these schools,an Indiana fan at that time, but I remember enjoying this game for it’s pure athleticism more than any game in the 80’s,it really stuck in my mind for a long time. You’re right it’s a shame they were playing in altitude which neither team did at that time, still great. It was the Dr’s of Dunk(Louisville) vs Phi Slamma Jamma(Houston),like an NBA game.
Who’s schlong did Packer suck to get his gig? He’s an atrocious announcer. And he thinks EVERYBODY walks, every other play. He says Drexler walks, then counts the steps “1, 2….on up…gets away with it”. Away with what Billy?! Two steps is NOT a walk. Moron.
Yet another one the insanely moronic czars (aka NCAA committee) got wrong! Just like the ‘96 Final Four, the #1 & #2 should NEVER meet in the semifinal game!!! Don’t you want the best 2 teams in the final?! Houston was spent after this slugfest, like UK was after beating UMASS. UK was so loaded, though, and Tony Delk was so hot that they overcame Wallace & Syracuse. Real fans of the game know this was the real finals of ‘83.
